by using long exposures (sometimes 4 hours) and handheld lights with interchangeable colored gels, the photographer can construct a variety of color combinations and lighting textures. the resulting image is a composite
of the lighting applied during the exposure. if you consider the photographic
medium as a "black canvas" then any image is possible, its important to point out two
distinct differences when using this comparison. currently i am in search of a cinematographer with either 16mm or 35mm equipment to help produce short, lightpainting animations. please e-mail me for more information on this project. stephen p schweitzer |
